ENERGY STAR® Rated Windows

Because efficiency matters in your new windows.

Why ENERGY STAR Rated windows?

Think of them like the doctorate diploma with high honors for your windows!

More Efficient

ENERGY STAR® rated windows help ensure that your windows are designed with efficiency in mind.

More Comfortable

Sitting next to inefficient windows can be uncomfortable.  You’ll feel the drafts and the weather outside will be creeping inside.

With efficient triple pane windows, the outside weather can stay outside, and the comfort can stay inside.

Lowest U Factor

Our U Factor ratings are some of the lowest in the industry.  The lower, the better when it comes to U Factors.

We beat the ENERGY STAR minimums for every area of the US by over 30%!

Most of our windows are below 0.21, with some below 0.16, dependent on style and size!

Better SHGC Rating

The amount a solar heating allowed through a window can be adjusted at the time of manufacturing of the window by using different Low-E coatings.

In some parts of the country, you welcome the sun warming your living space.  In warmer climates, you want the sun’s warm rays to stay outside.

Value

To most people, a window is a window.  When you go to sell your home and you inform would-be buyers of the professionally installed windows in your home, you have now shown them that you gave your home the best care.

Save Money

Every time your thermostat has to trigger your heater or air conditioner on, it is costing you money.  Drafty windows can make a thermostat run wild.

With a solid, efficient window, your thermostat and wallet can take a break.

The Numbers

With so much to decide on with windows, ENERGY STAR ratings make it fairly easy to decide whether a given window is efficient or not.

Check the numbers on our windows and prepare to be amazed.

The Design

A lot goes into making an efficient window.  Our windows include three panes of glass, multiple layers of weatherstripping, premium glass spacers, cast locks to eliminate air movement between the interior and exterior of your home.

Our Promise

When we created Easy Order Windows we knew we would need to offer the the best windows possible for our customers.  We would need to offer the best because we would have a hard time explaining how good a mediocre window is.  That is why we only offer superior, installed, quality windows, at an affordable window price.

Better than ENERGY STAR® Rated Windows

We have all seen the ENERGY STAR label on new products that either use energy or cause us to use energy.  From washing machines to windows, just about every major item for your home can have an ENERGY STAR rating.

But what is an ENERGY STAR rating for windows?  Basically, the Energy Star rating for windows includes a few numbers to give you a very easy way to compare apples to apples when looking at different windows.

One of the numbers used is called the U Factor rating.  This is similar to the R-value for insulation.  Basically this is a measurement of how well your window insulates.  The lower the number, the better.

Current minimums for windows to be ENERGY STAR certified hover around the 0.27 mark.  Many window companies do not even offer Energy Star rated windows.  Our triple-pane windows measure around 0.16-0.21, dependent upon the exact style of window.  That makes our triple pane windows some of the most efficient in the industry.

Another number used to determine an ENERGY STAR rated window is the SHGC or Solar Heat Gain Coefficient number.  That is a fancy way of saying that this measures the amount of heat let in by your windows.  These numbers vary for Energy Star ratings based on climate.  For example, in Arizona, you need an SHGC number of 0.25 or lower for an Energy Star rating.  In Wisconsin, you need at least a 0.42 or lower number.

Basically in some colder climates, a higher (less efficient) insulating U-Factor rating can be made acceptable for ENERGY STAR standards by allowing the SHGC number to be higher, allowing more of the sun’s heat in.  This is a cheap way to offer an Energy Star rated window that is not very efficient.  As you can imagine, this does not make the summer months very comfortable.

The SHGC number can influence whether the U factor number is acceptable for an ENERGY STAR rating.  That is to say, if you live in a climate that gets cold winters, your higher SHGC number can help offset a less than optimal U factor number.

Why not get the best ratings for both?  That is what we do with our windows at EasyOrderWindows.com.  Our triple pane windows are Low-E coated and highly efficient to make sure you are getting an extremely efficient window for your money.

One thing to keep in mind is that the ENERGY STAR rating is based on numbers.  How windows are built to achieve those numbers must also be considered.  Some manufacturers have gamed the system, so to speak.

For example, we use a smaller frame, with larger, thicker glass.  Some other brands use a larger frame, with a smaller pane of glass.  They do this because the window frame materials are less expensive than the glass and are generally better insulating than their glass.  So if they make a frame that reduces the actual window viewing area, they can achieve an ENERGY STAR rating, even though the window itself is not that great.  Most window purchasers won’t realize this until they open their shades on their new windows and think, “Why is it so dark in here?”

EasyOrderWindows.com achieves are stellar ENERGY STAR ratings three main ways:

1) We offer triple pane windows.  Three panes of glass does incredible things for the insulation value.

2) We use thicker, double strength glass.  This is mainly for strength and has the added benefit of being a better insulator.

3) Better seal between the window panes.  We use a PHENOM Premium Warm Edge Stainless Steel spacer that creates a thermal barrier between the panes of glass.

4) Foam insulated fiberglass frame.  We use carbonized foam insulation in select channels of the head, jamb and sill for year-round protection against energy loss.

5) Multi-layer weatherstripping.

6) Interlocking components that incorporate molded in channels to allow each piece of the window that moves to be able to lock onto the other parts of the window, creating a stronger window that keeps the weather outside, where it belongs.

Efficiency

Our windows have three panes of glass, giving you a better window.  That also gives us more glass area to put our efficent Low-E coatings on, giving you a superior window than possible with a double pane window.
